The Westtown Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) was created in February, 2021 by Ordinance 2021-02, and consists of seven residents appointed by the Board of Supervisors. The purpose of the EAC is to advise the Board of Supervisors on matters dealing with protection, conservation, management, promotion, and use of natural resources including air, land, and water resources, located within the Township. The EAC meets at 7:00 PM on the 4th Tuesday of each month. All meetings are open to the public.
Cleanup at Crebilly Preserve – Saturday, April 26
Join the Westtown Township Environmental Advisory Council (EAC) in an Earth Day inspired litter pick up at Crebilly Preserve! All volunteers must register and complete a liability waiver. Participants must be at least 18 years of age.
Volunteers need to check in at the staging area in the Westminster Presbyterian Church parking lot (10 W. Pleasant Grove Road) for instructions and materials (vest, gloves, trash bags). The cleanup will be in two sections, which will begin at different times – 7am to 9am for perimeter (along roadways) and 9am to 11am for interior of the site.
The perimeter pickup start time was created in order to avoid as much traffic as possible for the safety of our volunteers along the busy roadways of a three-mile rectangle.
Westtown Township is proud to be the 52nd Pennsylvania Bird Town! Our community joined Bird Town Pennsylvania in 2024. Bird Town Pennsylvania works in partnership with local municipalities and like-minded organizations to promote community-based conservation actions to create a healthier, more sustainable environment for birds, wildlife, and people. The program provides tools for municipalities to engage, educate and empower their residents, schools and businesses to make more positive social, economic and ecologically friendly decisions. The program also promotes a culture of conservation where everyone is a potential steward of nature in their own backyard and beyond. The Township recently installed a purple martin house at the mansion core of Oakbourne Park. The structure was provided at no cost to the Township by the Wildlife Recovery Division of the PA Game Commission through a new cavity nesting bird program focused on purple martins and chimney swifts. Both species nest in man-made houses. Unfortunately, martins and swifts are declining. In an attempt to reverse these statewide declines, the PGC is deploying purple martin structures and chimney swift towers statewide, along with interpretive signage to educate the public on martin and swift conservation. Because martins and swifts are so accustomed to nesting near humans, they present a unique opportunity to place nesting structures in highly visible public parks where conservation and education can be highly impactful. The Township will install a chimney swift tower in the athletic core of Oakbourne Park once it is provided by the PGC. Interpretive signage will also be installed.

West Chester Area Clean Energy Future
The Townships of East Bradford, East Goshen, West Goshen, Westtown, West Whiteland, and the West Chester Borough, in conjunction with the West Chester Area Council of Governments (WCACOG), collectively hired the Cadmus Group to complete a study on the feasibility, costs, and opportunities of transitioning to 100% renewable energy, and to create a long-term, actionable roadmap for realizing the community’s goals. On August, 3, 2020, Westtown Township adopted Resolution 2020- 09 formally accepting the WCACOG Clean Energy Study, authorizing the Township’s involvement in a project to implement strategies set forth in the study, and authorizing the Township’s involvement in the issuance of a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
